Bnai Sephardim Joins We Are One for Purim Chesed

!משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה – In the month of Adar, we increase in JOY!
Mishloach Manot, literally the “sending of portions”, are gifts of food and drink prepared to give to friends, family and people in need for the holiday of Purim. The Mitzvah of mishloach manot is meant to ensure that every Jew has enough food for the Purim feast later in the day and to increase the love, unity, and camaraderie among Jews. Mishloach manot are also a reaffirmation to remind us that the Jews are unified and not as the evil Haman (his name should be erased) had described, “characterized by strife and disunity”.
The Mitzvah of mishloach manot is incumbent upon every Jewish person over the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah to send a food gift to at least one other Jewish person consisting of at least two types of foods which are ready to eat. Today, we decorate our baskets beautifully, include grape juice, hamantaschens and other sweets.
We Are One would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to B’nai Sephardim of Hollywood for joining us in the great Mitzvah of mishloach manot this year! In a beautiful display of chesed, over 50 children joined in the creation of Purim baskets that will be distributed right before Purim to be me‘samayach our brothers and sisters.
Organized by Avital Ben-Harush and Oshrat Twito of B’nai Sepharadim, the event was fun-filled and full of the desire to do good. Thank you to the Kohn Family who joined us and helped – we appreciate your help! We’d also like to thank Sylvia’s Kosher Marketplace and Kosher Central for their sponsoring of sweets and the amazing kids who joined us for this great event!
*We also have Purim Baskets on sale! 100% of proceeds go directly to charity.
